Frequently asked questions
Getting started
Q: At what age can I start driving?
A: You can normally start learning to drive a car from age 17, provided you have the appropriate provisional driving licence.
Q: Do I need to pass the Theory Test before I can start my driving lessons?
A: No. You can start your driving lessons before passing your Theory Test. We recommend studying for your theory alongside your practical lessons, as the two can support each other.
Q: Are you a qualified driving instructor?
Your lessons
A: Yes. Our instructors are DVSA-approved driving instructors (ADIs) and are qualified to provide professional driving lessons.
Your lessons
Q: Will other pupils be in the car with me?
A: No! Unlike many schools, all our lessons are conducted on a one-to-one basis, so you will not be sharing your lessons with other pupils.
Q: How often should I have my driving lessons?
A: Regular lessons can help maintain continuity and progress. We can discuss a lesson schedule that suits your availability and learning needs.
Q: Can I have more than one lesson a week?
A: Of course. Having less time between lessons can help you maintain continuity and spend less time reacclimatising to the car. Please call to discuss availability.
Q: Can I have lessons longer than one hour?
A: Yes. Many pupils find longer lessons beneficial and, depending on availability, two-hour lessons can be arranged.
Q: Can I be picked up from home, school, work or college?
A: Yes. Please let your instructor know in advance where you would like your lesson to start. Pick-up arrangements can be made where the location is within the instructor´s normal operating area.
Progress and tests
Q: How many lessons will I need?
A: There are many factors that determine how many lessons you will need. Your age, attitude, personality and ability to practise between lessons can all contribute. Once you have had a few lessons, we will be better able to assess your progress and give you an idea of how many lessons you may need.
Q: How will I know when I´m ready to take my test?
A: We will keep track of your progress and discuss this with you as appropriate. We will let you know when we feel you are ready to start thinking about booking your practical driving test.
Q: What should I study for the Theory Test?
A: We recommend using current official DVSA theory-test learning and practice resources, together with regular study of the Highway Code and hazard perception.
